“Our target should be to not only promote science, but to also help in reaching an ambitious healthcare target, i.e. 70% control of blood pressure in hypertensive patients within the next 5 years in Italy. This is not only realistic, but also absolutely possible. As it has been obtained in controlled clinical trials and studies, we must prompt any effort to translate this for the individual physician and the individual patient. We have to look for any help, support and partnerships to reach ‘objective 70%’, the next mission of the Italian Society of Hypertension. Implementation of lifestyle measures, early diagnosis, physicians’ commitment, patient-physician communication, treat to target, use of sound combination therapy, support of compliance and adherence are only some of the means that should be used and reinforced.”
